ALL SUMMER LONG: 4 AWESOME PICNIC IDEAS

ago

Ever since our blissful family picnic a little while ago, I've been daydreaming about taking it to the next level! It's such a sweet ritual, that's just as nice when approached low key (with sliced watermelon and a breezy dress) as well as a bit more elaborate. Whether it's with your besties, family or by yourself: an outdoor picnic is quite simply the nicest way to celebrate Summer, so may these 4 awesome picnic ideas (including the perfect accompanying snacks & outfit!) serve as the ultimate inspo for your next al fresco adventure!

THE SET-UP

No matter how lovely it sounds, a beach picnic can be a bit tricky to pull off. If the wind is going the wrong way (it always is) you may end up eating more sand than anything else, not to mention being friggin' cold the entire time. So I really like the idea of literally taking it up a notch and bring a little make-shift table (and leave the blanket option just for photo ops :)). If you really want to go all the way, bringing some extra cuddly pillows will make it that more comfy to watch that beachy sunset.

THE SNACKS

Since the set-up already requires some effort, easy individual snacks that don't ask for any utensils are the way to go for a beach picnic! Homemade mini waffles plus fresh Summer fruits and vanilla yogurt are perfect, and if you bring along some almond milk (plus a little cinnamon!), you have a guaranteed hit on your hands, with little ones and adults alike!

THE OUTFIT

A gingham wrap dress and straw sunhat, to throw on over your bikini once that brisk sea breeze sets in and it starts to cool down.

THE SET-UP

A bohemian picnic in the woods asks for very little, because if you pick out the right spot, it'll suffice to mostly just take in your beautiful surroundings. Bring a checked blanket, patterned patchwork pillows, and some extra flowers (tent is optional), and you're done!

THE SNACKS

Since you'll be keeping your set-up pretty go-with-the-flow you have a little extra room to go all out snacks-wise. A rustic pie will be the yummy finishing touch to your woodsy surroundings, and all the better if it's a - wait for it - vegan peach/thyme/rosewater version! Bring along some flavoured water or hot tea, and you're all set.

THE OUTFIT

Nothing's more annoying than having to worry about your outfit when you're up in the woods, but since we're kind of over the typical boho dress (also not so practical when you're chasing squirrels) a loose linen jumpsuit with a pretty back and wild undone hair are this Summer's go-to boho outfit (and remember: thumbs up if it gets crinkled!).

THE SET-UP

Ever since our babymoon in the South of France, I've been longing to go back and enjoy another one of those spectacular outdoor brunches. And while it may be a little hard to recreate at home, white linen blanket, matching napkins, and a straw basket filled with Mediterranean goodies will go a long way!

THE SNACKS

French goodies of course! Sliced wholegrain baguettes, fresh tomatoes, an elaborate cheese plate and lots of red wine: easy and so delish.

THE OUTFIT

A fresh polka dot maxi dress with romantic ruffles and a bow - aka an updated princess look!

THE SET-UP

I'm always in for a good white-&-copper theme, and while I'm not exactly sure how copper chandeliers can ever be hung in trees, I really like the idea (and it's a nice change from the usual string lights, don't you think?). Throw in neutral coloured blankets and pillows, and a leather vintage suitcase to carry your snacks, and you got yourself a nostalgic & timeless picnic set-up!

THE SNACKS

A salad with greens, beets, roasted eggplant, and lots of chopped herbs is as timeless as it gets, and it takes next to nothing to throw together. Bread plus salted butter are a must to complete the dish!

THE OUTFIT

Butt-hugging denim, a sheer white top and golden bracelets, because timeless, remember?

What's your favourite picnic theme for Summer? I can't wait to put my spin on the beach and classic version! :)
