FROM WINTER TO SPRING: MY TOP-5 TRANSITIONAL PIECES

Maybe it's because of our little Spring baby, but this year I've been extra excited for the arrival of the season of fresh blooms and breezy skirts. Spring is definitely one of my favourite times of the year; it's just literally a breath of fresh air, and I can't wait to adjust our clocks this Sunday! One thing that can be a bit challenging, though? Gettin' that Spring vibe into your outfits without freezing! Because as the days are getting a bit warmer and all your new seasonal scores are aching to be worn, it's easy to jump the gun and go a little overboard with breezy fabrics and summer-y sandals. Luckily, the solution is as easy as focusing on these little things called transitional pieces - those on trend items that will take you from Winter to Spring, with just a few little tweaks. Added bonus: it's 100% budget friendly!

We predicted hoodies were going to be big this year, and sure enough, there's no self-respecting street style star that has not yet been spotted with the most flattering unisex item out there. It's just about the cosiest piece to snuggle up in on gloomy days, and it adds a bit of street cred to every look, especially when combined with a badass pair of leather leggings. And on warmer days? You just wear it as a tomboy-ish mini dress duh! Extra points if you add a matching maxi coat and sleek clutch...

One of the main reasons why I adore Victoria Beckham's style is the effortless way in which she can pull off structured trousers. To me, they're the ultimate girl bo$$ piece, and if you go with a sophisticated fabric such as silk, there's nothing to stop you from adding a poppy colour to the mix! And yes, these babies work as well in Winter as in Spring, paired with a cosy cropped wool sweater en oversized scarf or a light colour block shirt. Casual hand-in-pocket stroll and serious pout are optional.

You might not initially think of a frilly maxi dress as a winter-y piece, but I LOVE the idea of styling it with an oversized teddy coat! (such as this and this one) There's just something about the contrast between silk pleats and heavy shearling that's irresistible. If you'd like to make your maxi dress totally on trend this Spring, go with a big sleeved version ('cause big sleeves & shoulders, remember?), snagged in at the waist and paired with your cutest kitten heels.

Of all the shoes I own, my loafers get the most wear. Apart from being crazy comfortable, they add a bit of that relaxed boyish vibe that I so adore. A couple of ice cold days aside, I wear them year round; as long as you add some cosy knitwear you should be good. As the days get warmer they work just as well with a long shirt-dress as with buttoned shorts. Can you say versatile?

I've been looking forward to the white boots trend to kick in for a while, because there's just nothing like a crisp bootie to uplift just about any outfit! I'm a huge fan of the mid-heeled version, and since they send out a pretty 'posh' vibe, it's super fun to style them with casual oversized track pants and a blazer. Come Spring, just add a bright dress and you're all set!
