Of all the current trends, tonal dressing seems to be one of the most challenging ones. And since I've gotten so many questions about my go-to styling tricks to style it in the most fabulous & flattering way (yes, it's possible!), I thought it'd make for a great outfit post. :) It obviously can be tricky to make a full outfit in very similar shades work in your favour, but here's the surprising thing: when you do it right, it will actually make you look so much taller! So without further ado: how to make the most of the tonal dressing trend this Fall!
1 / MIX DIFFERENT FABRICS
One of people's biggest worries about tonal dressing is that it will look washed out & boring - both really not good. To avoid that, just mix things up fabric-wise by pairing a slouchy knit sweater (this one from Scapa is a staple in your Fall wardrobe for sure!) with sturdy denim trousers, and a suède bag (also from Scapa). Different textures will keep your mind busy, and make the different shades work well together, exactly what you want with tonal dressing!
2 / EYES ON WAIST & ANKLES
Monochromes were one of this Summer's biggest trends, and while there's nothing wrong with wearing a head-to-toe outfit in one & the same colour, tonal dressing is a lot easier. Pairing different pieces in similar shades will have the same lengthening effect as a full monochrome look, that you can accentuate even more by tucking in your sweater (& focus on your waist), and showing off your ankles (by opting for cropped trousers).
3 / POPS OF COLOUR
And to keep your tonal outfit from looking boring you obvi want to add some pops of colour: a deep brown suède bag, blue tinted sunnies and some good ol' bling are just perfect for that!
What do you think about the tonal dressing trend? Is it your thing, or will you pass? :)
