HOW TO TRANSITION YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE FROM WINTER TO SPRING

Spring beauty

Whenever the seasons change my skin gets a bit fussy. Especially when Winter has been involved, I'm forced to adjust my beauty routine - regarding skincare and make-up alike. Among other things, the softer temperatures and sunny skies allow me to use less moisturiser, and additionally, I like to fully embrace more poppy colours into my make-up look. Narrowing it down, these are the 6 things I do to slowly but surely transition my beauty routine from Winter to Spring!

Spring Beauty

1. HYDRATE ► PURIFY

While thoroughly hydrating your skin is the no. 1 thing to do during Winter (especially when you have a normal to dry skin type, as me), warm weather tends to make your skin more oily, so I like to keep things balanced out with a purifying mask that I apply once a week. I particularly like clay based masks because they feel more natural and usually smell divine. O and also: they're super great for those cliché green faced Instagram selfies! Just make sure to not overdo it, as stripping your skin off its natural oils will make it compensate by ... producing more oil (remember?). Yup, that's definitely a vicious circle you want to avoid!

2. MOISTURISER ► SUN PROTECTION

Anyone who knows me knows how obsessed I am with sun protection! My fair skin tone has given me some nasty sun burns in the past, and given that those are just so damn painful and unhealthy, I'd rather slather myself with at least SPF 30 on a daily basis. It's kind of common knowledge by now that sun filters regrettably tend to be super chemical, so thumbs up for the natural versions that are non-sticky and can be used on a daily basis.

3. COVER UP ► HIGHLIGHT

While during Winter I'm forced to use my concealer pretty frequently (mostly to cover up those dark circles that come from pure sun deprivation), during Spring I like to go with the least possible coverage and accentuate my sun-kissed skin instead. It's no secret I like a healthy glowy beauty look, even if that means I have to fake it, and there's no season like Spring to bring out that glow!

4. MOODY MANICURE ► PASTEL PEDICURE

I love me a sophisticated dark manicure during Winter (maroon & black are my all-time favourites), but there's nothing like a sweet pastel pedicure to get that Spring beauty going. I especially love this season's poppy colours that are - in line with the fashion trends - all about vibrant hot pink, purple, green, and citrus.

5. DARK SMOKEY EYES ► SUNSET EYES

A dark smokey eye is the ultimate sexy look for the Holidays, but on sunny days you want to go with a lighter version and use your favourite blush as eyeshadow. It's surprisingly flattering (no wonder it's a street style favourite!) and will particularly make blue and green eyes pop!

6. MAROON LIPS ► BERRY STAINED LIPS

I've talked about my love of stained lips before, and I rest my case that aside from allowing you to wear darker shades during Spring, they are just as pretty in a lighter version. And they won't stain on your fourth glass of rosé, so thumbs up for that too!
