After months and months of biting my tongue (though I couldn't help dropping little hints here and there :)), today it's finally here: my new book Mood of the Day is officially out!! I've been wanting to compose a second book for a while now (because it's such a nice way to share and keep all of the amazing memories we made!), but as you can imagine, it's not something you do overnight. :) I wrote my first book, Little Black Book, as a more general reflection of who I am, how I started my career, and the styling and beauty tips & tricks that I use on a daily basis.
After its overwhelming success (it's now available in Dutch, English, German and Japanese!), I wanted to really take the time to dig a little deeper and go back to basics - literally, because this new book is all about my biggest and most important companion in life: my intuition. People often ask me what fashion really means to me, and if it ever feels superficial or repetitive to deal with it every single day of my life. And the answer is: it's the best thing ever. Sure, there are more important things in life than making sure your shoes match your pants, but the sheer joy it gives me to express myself through fashion is incomparable. It just makes me so damn happy. And that's what Mood of the Day essentially is all about: how to make sure that the outfit you pick out in the morning exactly matches your mood, so that it becomes a part of yourself and your lifestyle, and lifts you up - all day every day.
So fashion is naturally the basis of the 12 chapters/moods of the book, but since no look is complete without a happy glowy face, I also share my most cherished beauty tips & tricks (picked up from my favourite Fashion Week backstage moments, professional shoots, and Red Carpet events) along the way. If you have an off-day or want to look extra confident to get the most out of an important client meeting; if the sun's out or you're ready to go all out and party the night away with your besties; if you want to do your lazy Sunday exactly right or dress up for a seriously glamorous event; if you want to spend a perfect date night with the love of your life or go crazy during Summer break; if you want to cuddle up on the couch because it's just sooo cold outside or if your VISA bill was unexpectedly high and you need to live on a fashion budget for a little while; if you want to go back to nature or get through that Monday morning workout, and you want to do it all in style - I got you covered! :)
And then there's the part I'm most excited about sharing with you guys this time around: the travel sections! Composing a more extensive travel guide is something I've been wanting to do since FOREVER and now it seemed like the perfect opportunity, because what's more pleasing for your senses, intuition and mood than traveling, right? And o yes, the book wouldn't be complete without my favourite power food recipes! I included a mix of my favourite savoury and sweet treats, all easy, healthy & super yummy! It goes without saying that this is all completed with a behind-the-scenes of a typical Fashion Week day (I bet it's going to surprise you!), the secret composition of my favourite make-it-yourself skincare products, and much much more!
