MY BABY Q&A: ON BABY WEIGHT, WARDROBE DRAMAS & SUNCARE

ago

I'm not going to lie: one of the biggest challenges of being pregnant was saying goodbye to my beloved closet. As the months passed by and my baby bump got bigger & bigger, I subsequently had to give up sassy heels, mini dresses, denim, and then just about anything that didn't stretch big time. :) And while I look back on my first bump with lots of nostalgia, now that our boy is here, I'm super psyched to rediscover some of my fave wardrobe pieces (sweet jeans, where have you been!) and make the most of my new post-baby body. So for the second part of our Baby Q&A mini series (find part I on how I'm feeling right here) I'm sharing my current beauty & fashion experiences as a new mama, including baby weight, my personal mini wardrobe drama, and baby suncare!

BABY Q&A - BEAUTY & FASHION

BODY CHANGES & BABY WEIGHT

I gained about 17 kilos during my pregnancy (these were taken when I was 8.5 months pregnant!), but I was lucky enough to have lost most of it (about 12 kilos) by the time I left the hospital. Right now, I'm almost back at my pre-baby weight (1 kilo to go!).

FOOD & EXERCISING

Despite having a distinctive sweet tooth, I love eating healthy & nutritious foods (chia seed pudding for breakfast, grilled corn salad with avocado for lunch, and pineapple with coconut cream for dessert!). I haven't been doing any regular exercising just yet (still waiting to be cleared by my doctor), but I can't wait to go for a run or pick up my yoga routine soon!

AFTER-THE-BABY STYLE OBSESSIONS

So excited to fit back into my denim! I love me a good pair of classic cropped denim, and I can't wait to wear it with printed shirts and patent leather ankle booties come Fall! Other than that, I'm very much into rich heavy fabrics such as crushed velvet, that make me feel chic & comfy after yet another short night.

BIGGEST WARDROBE CHALLENGE

Some of my cutest heels don't fit me anymore! I swear that my feet seem to have gotten half a size bigger since having our boy, and it.makes.me.cry because they were already on the large side. Any advice or what to expect on that (are they going to get smaller again??) is so welcome! :)

BEAUTY LIFESAVER

I haven't had major skin or hair issues (thanking my favourite anti-stretch marks serum and hair loss preventing shampoo for that!), so right now, I'm mostly focusing on finding the best all-natural baby suncare (I love Susanne Kaufmann's Cell Protection, and have my eye on Linea Mamma Baby's too!).

OUT & ABOUT

Being out & about with a baby is no joke in terms of the gazillion things to take (I'll be sharing the contents of my diaper bag soon!) and general impracticalities. A random thing that has surprised (and annoyed :)) me as a new mama is how little lunch & coffee spots are suited to babies. From having to change him in the middle of the room (not appetising, I know!) to having to lift and carry in our pretty stroller, it all makes going out with our boy so much more challenging. A good stroller (and matching car seat! ;)), that I both scored at one of my fave local baby shops Het Land van Ooit, really do make all the difference in getting around with a mini somewhat comfortably.

Right this way for my first Baby Q&A on how I'm feeling as a new mama! Next up: all about our new routines and fears as new parents.

A friend of mine her feet got one size bigger during two pregnancies. They did not get smaller anymore, I'm sorry :)
Going out is challenging and I'm hoping every public place foresees changing rooms (in a neutral space, not in the ladies room) in the near future. It's really annoying to do this in the middle of a restaurant.

OMG I really do hope my feet shrink back a bit, I love my heels so much! :) It's so weird that most restaurants aren't equipped to host babies, right? Here's hoping this changes in the future! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, big kiss xx

Well, my feet grew about a half to full size during pregnancy.
My boy is 9 months now and...
I'm still bigfoot! :D
I went from size 39-40 to size 40-41 - huuuuu-rrraaaayy!
Sorry for the bad news, I know, parting with shoes is a drama. ;-)

oh such a shame for the bigger feet:-( although if you ever plan to sell these some of us would be surely happy ;-))

Works like a charm!

;) xx
