You guys, is it just me, or did the past weeks flew by in a heartbeat?? This week, our little baby boy Gabriel is turning 2 months old, and I just can't believe it! I'm such a cliché saying that he changes so much every single day, but it's really true. :) Since I'm well aware that this is such a unique time in my life - I'll never experience those early days as a first-time mama again! - I thought it'd be fun to do a mini Q&A series to capture all that's been on my mind lately, as a follow-up of the one I did when I was pregnant (find part I & part II right here). First up: all about those first smiles, that amazing baby smell, and my no. 1 advice for new mamas out there!
BABY Q&A - HOW I'M FEELING
Exhausted but definitely on my pink cloud! :) Both Marcio & I are obviously really feeling the sleep deprivation, but all in all we can't complain: Gabriel's such an easy-going baby who's actually much more chill than I expected. After a few bumps in the road (he experienced some nasty cramps around week 3-4), he usually only cries when something's up (hungry, dirty diaper, Bobke's paw in his face :)), so that's a total bliss.
MOST SPECIAL MAMA MOMENT SO FAR
There have been so many amazing moments during the past 2 months, but our boy's first real smile 2 weeks ago made my heart skip a beat. We were just hanging out at home, and out of nowhere, he gave me the biggest smile. It felt like one of the most beautiful surreal things ever.
THE THING THAT HAS SURPRISED ME THE MOST
How time-consuming being a mama is! You think you have an idea of all the things that come with taking care of a baby, and since most newborns do little else than eating and sleeping, you'd think it'll be fairly easy to squeeze in a couple of productive hours of work every day. But it really feels like a full-time job on its own!
That famous baby smell! I just can't get over how amazing our boy smells. :) We still use the all-natural La Langerie cleansing water, Estelle & Thild body lotion, and Zwitsal eau de toilette (so nostalgic!), but nothing really beats his natural odeur.
MOST EXCITED FOR
Our first family beach day! Can't wait for chubby sandy baby legs & little sticky ice cream fingers. Also: our first trip abroad, to make him feel at ease with different cultures from an early age on. And X-mas of course! Already totally on the hunt for matching family pj's. :)
NO. 1 ADVICE FOR NEW MAMAS
Document everything like crazy! Even though documenting my life is a part of my job, I literally tend to forget to take pictures or make little videos, only to find myself thinking where my tiny baby went. Even if it makes you feel baby-obsessed, do try to capture as much details as possible; you'll be so happy you did!
