As you guys know, I don't shy away from trends that can easily be interpreted as, eh, tacky, because I'm a firm believer that with the right styling, you can pull off a LOT. From animal prints to red leather: if you do it right, it's a nice change from more ordinary options. Today's addition to that list: lucite heels! They can easily look bad (just think paired with ripped denim), but with the right tweaks, they're sexy & fun - just what I needed to spice up my latest baby bump date night looks!
1 / FLOWY, FLOWY, FLOWY
This is the most important thing to remember: if you want your lucite heels to look sophisticated, add a loose piece on top! Whether you want to go with wide-legged silk trousers or a flowy maxi dress, it's all good as long as it's not fitted. The thing with flowy fabrics such as silk is that they don't only hug your body in all the right places, they just have a rich feel and appearance, instantly upgrading your entire look. Thumbs up of course if your flowy piece comes with a timeless print such as this blue-&-white striped dress from By Malene Birger (I already raved about their similar two-piece here!).
2 / GOLD & WHITE
Gold & white are one of those colour combo's that just look chique, no matter what. So good news if you find a pair of lucite heels in these exact colours, but if you don't, just keep these shades in mind for your other accessories, by strictly opting for golden pieces. And don't be scared to incorporate at least one statement piece (such as an oversized starry cuff)!
3 / PERFECT PEDICURE
If your feet are usually the last thing to tackle from your beauty to-do list, raise your hand! But if you're going to wear a tricky shoe trend there's no escaping: your feet and ankles will have to look perfectly groomed, 'cause there's nothing like a bad pedicure to mess up general feet sophistication (right this way for my favourite at-home pedicure!).
How do you feel about the lucite heel trend? Too Kim K or will you be wearing it this Summer? I'd love to hear! :)
