NESTING MODE ON: HOW I MAKE OUR HOME SPRING READY

ago

I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who takes the Spring clean pretty seriously! :) I just have sooo much more energy when the sun is out and nature starts blooming. And because this Winter felt particularly cruel & long, I feel the effects of Spring even more this year. I've been pretty much jumping around the house, making it Spring ready with little tweaks in every room. From my beauty cabinet and closet, to our dining area and table setting: here's how I make our home Spring ready!

BEAUTY CABINET: APRICOT IS IT

Every season has its new home decor IT colours, and this year it's all about apricot! And while it may be a bit pricey to invest in actual new home decor pieces, there's no reason why you shouldn't add all the apricot tones to your beauty cabinet. I've always loved apricot-based shades for a Spring beauty look because they complement every skin tone and make your face look fresh & dewy. Are you a fan?

SPRING CLOSET CLEAN: CANDY COLOURED MULES & CITRUS DRESSES

There's nothing that makes me feel more organised than finally tackling my closet clean! As you know, I have a pretty big closet (okay, room :)) to keep my beloved clothes, shoes, and accessories, and it's the one room in the house that can easily get out of hand. But as soon as Spring is in the air, I put my cleaning urge into practice and make a big pile of all the pieces I want to donate vs the timeless ones that I'll hold onto a bit longer. To update my closet this Spring I've mostly invested in citrus and lavender dresses (this season's wardrobe IT colours!), and candy coloured mules. I love how they can add a bit of sun to just about any outfit, and I can't wait to wear them through Summer too!

FURNITURE: CLASSICS WITH A TWIST

Finding cute furniture that feels like a great investment is something I've been struggling with as soon as we started decorating our home. After finishing our living room, bedroom and baby room, the kitchen has been on our must-do list for a while, but somehow it's become a step-by-step process rather than something we'll be finishing in one go (the downside of being abroad so often :)). Every Spring I add some new pieces, always timeless classics with a twist. I basically follow the same rules as for my closet: the bigger pieces have to be worth the investment and have a timeless feel, but at the same time have a little something extra. And of course, a cute colour and nice texture are a must. So these new dining chairs, with a classic shape but executed in a deep blue velvet, were love at first sight! And then it's just a matter of adding a bit of fun with bold accessories, such as a cute statement vase and your fave Spring bouquet. :)

HOME ACCESSORIES: FOCUS ON NATURAL TEXTURES

Anyone who knows me knows how much I'm obsessed with natural textures. I only wear synthetics to work out, and even then, I'm super selective as I really don't like the feeling of it on my skin. And of course this also goes for my home decor: I'll always prefer natural & breezy fabrics because they just always look & feel so much more luxurious! From carpets, blankets, and pillows to my favourite table settings: I always always always focus on natural textures such as linen, cotton, and mousselinen. And there's honestly nothing that's more Spring-y than crisp cotton napkins and braided straw under-plates, don't you think?

DECOR DETAILS: BRING NATURE IN

Bringing all the greens in is of course a no brainer when it comes to making your home Spring ready! But I like to go a bit further than having my fave Spring flowers around, and love referring to natural vibes with leaf-y details such as my beloved copper lamp (I bought it in Porto a while back). It gives a fresh touch to the room without being to literal!

What are your favourite ways to make your home Spring ready? Any simple tricks I can adopt? :)
