Some trends seem to have been made especially for you, while others take a while to get used to. Surprisingly, I often find the last category the most satisfying one, because it implies getting out of your comfort zone - which is always a good thing, wardrobe-wise! :) The current boudoir trend, featuring lots of over-the-top details, feathers, heavy rich fabrics, and powdery colours, seemed a bit too preppy for my taste at first sight, but with a few smart styling tricks, it actually turned out to be super wearable & pretty, and the perfect style for a flirty Summer date. So put your feathers on, because this is my favourite way to style the boudoir trend right now!

1 / THINK MINI

If you're afraid that the over-the-top details that are so typical of the boudoir trend are going to create a super bombastic effect, opt for a piece with a sexy structured cut - in other words: an A-line mini dress. It was love at first sight when I spotted this little flirty number at Enes! The delicate floral print and poppy feathers in the front are balanced out nicely by the structured sort of 'business first' cut, that seriously has the perfect length. With a combo like that, there's just no way your look will appear heavy or burlesque!

2 / ADD POPPY MULES

The no. 1 way to make a boudoir piece look fresh is by pairing it with footwear in a poppy shade, such as golden mules, that accentuate your ankles without looking trashy (always something to be aware of when you're wearing a mini dress, of course :)). Make sure to go with a block heel, which will make your dress look that much more sophisticated!

3 / THIS IS THE TIME TO WEAR IRIDESCENT SUNNIES

Remember how iridescent tinted sunnies were going to be a huge hit this Summer? While they may not be the easiest thing to style (throw them on with the wrong piece and you'll end up looking like a bug from the future :)), they're just perfect to keep any boudoir piece from looking old-fashioned or dusty. If possible, try to find a pair of which the main tone matches your dress (in this case pink), to tie your look together.

What do you think of the boudoir trend? Are you planning to go all the way with the feathers this Summer? :)
