ON HOW TO MAKE YOUR MOST CHALLENGING BODY PART YOUR BEST
We all experience those times when we're just not feeling it, focusing on our insecurities and magnifying our little imperfections in our heads until there's nothing else left. On those days, the only thing that really works is to zoom out for a second and try to remember that literally everyone (yes, that includes Kendall Jenner!) has things they don't particularly like about themselves. And the really good news? The world of fashion and beauty offers some really awesome tips & tricks to deal with that! So sit back, relax and let these seriously amazing people inspire you to really love yourself - flaws and all.
For our first feature, we had the pleasure of talking to Elizabeth Sawatzky. In a time when visual appearances and general life perfection of other people seem to be everywhere (damn you, Instagram!), Elizabeth's something else. She's hauntingly beautiful, but not just on the outside. Her honest story about wellness and dealing with depression touched us to the core, and we couldn't be more excited to share her tips and tricks for dealing with a sensitive skin that scars easily. Also: there's mention of a salty caramel treat. This girl knows her stuff, people!

HOME: Los Angeles
STYLE: vintage, tomboy-chic
SECRET OBSESSION: tiny tattoos
INSTAGRAM CRUSH: @maryrosenberger - she just loves herself so openly
FEELGOOD FOOD: pasta, and every single home-cooked meal from my mama
FAVE BODYPART: lips
BEAUTY MANTRA: love yourself, right where you are, this very moment. And always take your make-up off at night!
FEEL YOUR BEST: when I'm inspired, writing, taking care of myself, learning new things, seeing new places, having a meaningful conversation, and after watching a good movie
NO. 1 PRODUCT: Heritage rosewater spray (I'm obsessed with anything rose scented)
FAVE INDULGENCE: the salt river bars from the Liberty Market in Gilbert, Arizona; and shoes!
WHAT'S WHAT? I've always loved my darker skin tone, but kind of hate how easily and visibly my skin scars.
HOW TO DEAL
1 / PUT THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE
I try to remind myself on a daily basis that my skin colour is a gift and that it's actually amazing at doing what it was designed to do: heal itself.
2 / GO BACK TO BASICS
I only use super gentle skincare products, drink tons of water, and let my skin soak up lots of sunshine whenever I can, until I'm evenly tan.
3 / WONDER TREATMENT
Mederma scar treatment works wonders!
4 / LOVE YOURSELF, REMEMBER?
Some of my scars, like my appendix scar, I've actually come to genuinely love because I wouldn't be me without it.
Thanks so much, Elizabeth! We love your perspectives on beauty and body image!
