THE 5 NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS I WILL TOTALLY KEEP

Happy New Year, everyone!! Hope you got to celebrate with lots of glitter and champagne and inappropriate songs! Now, as much as we all love the idea of a fresh start, we're also kind of dreading the 'back to business' spirit of January, right? And what's better to spice up the first Monday of this new year than some good old-fashioned impossible resolutions?! No, seriously though, I'm actually really looking forward to this new year, and I really REALLY want to devote myself to accomplishing these 5 things - no excuses:

 

1 / CELEBRATE MY INNER INTROVERT ► FACE THE AWKWARD 'TABLE FOR 1' PHRASE

This is one of those things I have to put on my priority list, starting right now. I tend to always surround myself with people, whether that's my beloved friends and family, clients or even strangers I run into at the supermarket. I just love to chat and hear other people's stories! :) But at the same time I'm also a bit of introvert, whose mind.never.stops. This year, I intend to force myself to be with just me more often, by going out and doing things on my own - have brunch and simply watch people stroll by, go to the park with a stack of magazines and my favourite smoothie, walk around the city with a playlist of really awful ballads. I'm sure it'll allow me to see and take in so much more, you know? 

2 / MAKE MORE HEALTHY SNACKS ► NO.MORE.OREOS

With a forever busy working schedule that basically leaves me with no routine at all, I tend to have several little meals a day, that are quick and have me get back to work asap. Pretty bad, I know. So I'd really like to take some time in the week-end to make healthy snacks that I can enjoy during the week: these raw energy power balls, this easy couscous feta salad, and  this apple cinnamon chips are definitely on my to-make list! Let me know if you have any other easy healthy snacks for me, I'm up for it!

3 / REACH FOR THE STARS ► AND BEYOND

I've never been one to think small, but I feel like this year I'm ready to really push myself to the next level. One of the main perks of growing older is getting to know yourself, what you're good at and what you'd like to accomplish with that. As a result, your goals get more attainable, because you know when to ask for help and when you're right (which isn't, eh, all the time). So if I say I'm really excited for this year, it's mainly because of that. :)

4 / GET A BETTER WORK/LIFE BALANCE ► ALWAYS PICK UP WHEN YOUR MAMA CALLS

Yeah I know, this isn't going to happen. :) But this year, I'll make a genuine effort to look less at my phone and e-mails at night and in the weekends, and spend more time with my friends and family, or with myself (see above). Pinky promise!

5 / GET THAT CAPSULE WARDROBE GOIN' ► CLEAN CLOSET, CLEAN MIND

Ever since the idea of a capsule closet, in which you try to (dramatically) reduce the number of pieces in your closet to what you actually wear, was introduced, I've been 100% intrigued! But with a profound love of shoes ánd bags ánd coats I've found it super challenging to put the idea into practice myself. The irony is of course that this praised dressing of mine - no matter how much I adore it - can give me stress up to the point that I wear the same pieces over and over again. So while I probably won't be able to reduce it to an actual capsule-worthy number (trying to keep things realistic here), I'll definitely purify my closet very soon, using the 3-piles-approach (yes / no / and 10 things you get to keep out of sentiment). Raise your hand if you're with me!

I feel happier when I try not to compare myself to others and live my life my way. I am not perfect but nobody is.

Gewoon gerookte zalm met avocado, komkommer, radijs, tomaat, pijpajuin en yoghurt is mijn favoriete snack. Eenvoudig, snel en lekker. Ik eet het meestal met/in getooste pitabroodjes.
