This week, my baby bump really popped. They had told me this would most likely happen around this time, but it still took me by surprise. Additionally, the baby has been super active, as if trying to compensate for missing out on NYFW. :) It's the first time since I started working in the fashion industry that I decided to skip the NYC edition, and while I feared a bad case of FOMO, it actually wasn't so bad. It's good to take a little break once in a while, to observe things from a different perspective and get back with a fresh breath afterwards. We've got so many exciting things to come this year, and I can't wait to share it with you all! :) Along with countless other creative highlights spotted on and off the runway, I was especially inspired by structured tops with a flattering peek-a-boo finish, a new fired up colour/fabric combo, and a surprisingly slick make-up trend. Happy weekend, everyone!
I've been a fan of the Belgian designer-genius Raf Simons from the very beginning, so - together with the rest of the fashion world, I was super excited to see his very first collection for Calvin Klein. And boy, how it delivered! It was definitely the most inventive collection I spotted on the NYC runways, and this look was among my favourites: how he manages to give a spin on classic pieces such as a structured blazer and pencil skirt kind of blew my mind. So gorgeous! Needless to say I also fell in love with the pristine white bag and futuristic/ethereal pumps, but it's the matching peeking-from-underneath cut-out top that really completes the look for me. I can't wait to style one of these beauties myself, once I'm again able to. Meanwhile, you guys go ahead and try out this affordable version from Zara for me! :)
We already know by now that green and hot pink will the most on trend colours this year, but it was a bright orange shade that really stood out for me on the NYC streets this week. I'm usually not very much into bright orange, but find it surprisingly appealing if it's paired with leather, giving it the sophisticated finish that it needs. Bookmarking these pieces for sure!
While I love my day-to-day make-up routine, I'm particularly excited about the many easy beauty looks that will be so on trend this Spring. First on my list to try out: mermaid-inspired eye make-up! Inspired by the many wet looks on the September runways, this beauty look is achieved by applying a shimmering base (mixing these bright shades of M.A.C. pigment will do the trick!) and top this with a light layer of clear or light pink lip gloss. So fresh and cute, right?
