In an effort to escape the sucky Belgian Summer, we took a mini trip to sunny Portugal earlier this week, to have my Brazilian family-in-law enjoy some of that delicious South European sunshine, and explore one of my fave countries. And o how good it felt to stroll around beautiful Porto in breezy Summer dresses, slides, and large sunnies! Can't wait to put all that recharged energy into some exciting work projects, and meanwhile, here's this week's round-up of pretty pretty thingies: after lace-up sandals and ballerinas, it's officially time for lace-up sneakers (as displayed in a cool new Nike collab!), my latest affordable jewelry brand obsession, and how to wear dark nails in Summer. Have the happiest weekend, everyone!
When celebrity stylist and founder of A.L.C. Andrea Lieberman does something, it's bound to be good. So when she came up with her interpretation of the iconic Nike Cortez sneaker, featuring 3 subdued colours (dark grey/navy, dusty red, and off-white), cool details (crackled metallic patches on the heels), and XXL laces, it didn't surprise me in the least that I wanted them all. No doubt on my mind that apart from the pretty sneaks, at least half of the collection's appeal lies in the effortless but spot-on styling, in which golden velvet trousers (where did we see those before?), relaxed joggers, and a floral maxi skirt were completed with the sneakers, with a tight or more widespread lace-up (you saw it here first! ;)) - as such, following in the footsteps (ha!) of Roman sandals and Miu Miu ballerinas. Happy to add yet another creative way to wear your sneakers this Summer!
Since I'm permanently on the lookout for yummy accessory brands, now and then I stumble upon ones that almost seem too good to be true - with gorgeous unique pieces that are surprisingly affordable. The jewelry brand Young Frankk is definitely one of those, and I can't wait to get my hands on, eh, the hand-shaped earrings picture above (if that's not an inventive take on classic hoops then I don't know what is) or the drop-shaped ones for a more classic look. The collection is small but so well curated, just the way I like it, and perfect to wear all year long.

As a natural born manicure lover my love of new nail polish ideas knows no boundaries, and recently I've been really into wearing dark colours - that's right, in the middle of Summer. It just has something so chic and sophisticated to rock my favourite almost-black (Faby Ocean Boulevard) or burgundy nail colours (O.PI. We the Female) with a super summery outfit. Because that's basically the only trick it takes to slay a dark manicure in Summer: just pair it with the right pieces, aka golden-&-bling statement rings to lighten up your nails, a pair of light blue jeans, white shirt, straw basket bag, and patent leather midi heels. And if you can't commit to full-on dark nails, just go half way with this Chanel inspired manicure! Are you on board?
