I've been particularly thankful for Summer to have arrived so early this year in Antwerp, as I'm literally pinching myself at the thought of late night bbq's and picnics in the park with our little family soon. Other things that made me smile this week: Rihanna's badass style that's more relevant than ever, a new beauty trend that's all-Hygge-cosy but still fresh, and a new exciting clothing line that finally dropped this week. Happy weekend, everyone!
After everything women have been through, you'd think you wouldn't wake up in 2017 and still find the world obsessing over female celebs' weight, but the reality is different. The amount of backlash Rihanna received this week after putting on some weight is astounding and made me wonder about this ridiculous concept of the Summer body, that puts so.much.pressure on all of us. Yes, she looks a bit fuller, yes, she still looks amazing, and no, it shouldn't matter. Looking forward to the day that we don't have to consciously point out anymore that body shaming is never okay. And in the meantime: how I wish my butt would look that cute in jeans!
The Scandinavian concept of Hygge, roughly capturing the concept of comfort and cosiness, was a big thing this past Winter, but who would've thought its popularity would extend into Summer! Yup, the Hygge beauty look is going to be big the upcoming months, and that basically comes down to embracing the warmest colours from your range of eye shadows, bronzers, and lipsticks. Think copper, gold, and nude (even if you have fair skin!), and if you do like to add a pop of colour, opt for a warm (hot even) orange-y red that complements your mustard/white/brown coloured outfit. And the best part? It looks surprisingly fresh and sooo sophisticated!
Given the unstoppable popularity of both her style and witty personality, it was only a matter of time before Alexa Chung would present her own clothing collection to the world, and this past week it finally happened! Anticipated and covered by all the hot fashion platforms out there, the preppy/naughty school girl collection was well received and will undoubtedly be sold out in no time at all. So if you'd like to get your hands on your very own Screw You shirt ('cause opinionated fashion is IT, remember?), floral tea dress, knitted butterfly-sleeved top or sparkly mules, you better hurry!
